Grab your family, friends and neighbors this summer and join Meridian Parks and Recreation for CableONE Movie Night in Meridian!  Once a week, we'll set up our gigantic inflatable movie screen in Meridian Settlers Park (Meridian Rd. & Ustick) and take in a family friendly movie.  Here's the best part - IT'S FREE!  So bring your lawn chairs, blankets and favorite movie pals and enjoy a summer of fun with Meridian Parks and Recreation.  All movies start at dusk.

Friday June 16ths movie is Barnyard.

Idaho Power requests rate increase

 BOISE -- Idaho Power today requested a base rate increase of 10.35 percent for its electricity.  But residential customers would see only a 4.5 percent increase.

The company filed an application with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission requesting the increase.

Officials with the company say the increase is needed to meet the costs of expanding coverage for Idaho's growing population.

The company says it will spend $300 million this year and next maintaining and upgrading its system.

The commission could take up to seven months to consider the request.

The company's last general rate increase was in 2005.

Meridian Parks & Rec Movie Night

The Meridian Parks & Recreation Dept will host Free Movie Nights at Settlers Park in Meridian every Friday night starting at dusk sponsored by CableOne.  Movies scheduled are all family friendly (PG). Read more below.

Starting June 1st, Meridian Parks and Recreation will be teaming with CableOne, Integrity Audio/Visual and RC Willy to provide a free movie every week through August 25th at Meridian Settlers Park. Idaho Power to raise rates

02:11 PM MDT on Thursday, May 31, 2007 KTVB BOISE -- A dry winter and spring means customers of Idaho Power Company will be paying more for power supply. The Idaho Public Utilities Commission today approved Idaho Power's application to implement a one-fourth of one-cent per kWh surcharge to pay for extraordinary power supply costs not already covered in base rates.
