Family Summer Safety Day

The Ada County Paramedics Department, along with Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, would like to invite you and your family to the first-ever Family Summer Safety Day!  The event will be held this Saturday, June 27th from 11am to 3pm in the Saint Alphonsus Hospital parking lot located at 1055 N. Curtis Road.  The event will be held near the Life Flight Helipad.  Paramedics will be handing out a limited supply of free bicycle helmets.  Reduced-cost bike helmets and free carseat checks will also be made available at the event.  Tours of the Life Flight helicopter and ambulances will also be given to kids.

DEQ Air Quality Alert

From the Idaho Statesmen:

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued a yellow, or moderate, air quality alert for Tuesday in Ada and Canyon Counties.

The forecast Air Quality Index is 70 for ozone, and all open outdoor burning is prohibited in Ada and Canyon County.

Consider postponing strenuous activities until air quality improves.

Take the following steps to reduce air pollution:

• Limit driving and combine trips and errands.

• If possible, avoid using a wood stove or fireplace.

• Don’t burn outdoors.

 
Earthquake Hits Nevada: Felt in Boise

According to an associate of this writer, Darin from Boise, as he was sitting at his computer this morning around 7:15am, he felt a gentle swaying, and then reloaded the USGS until he saw word of the earth quake.  Darin says it only took 20 minutes for the USGS to coordinate with the various USGS stations nation wide in an effort to triangulate the exact location.
